Overview

The Pastoro Peak expedition is an extraordinary journey into the heart of the Karakoram Mountains. This trek combines trekking, climbing, and high-altitude camping, offering up-close views of some of the world’s highest peaks including K2 (8,611 m), Broad Peak (8,047 m), Gasherbrum I & II, Masherbrum, Trango Towers, and Nanga Parbat (8,126 m).

Pastoro Peak (6,200 m) is considered an easy trekking peak, perfect for climbers seeking a non-technical ascent with a long day effort. Our schedule includes three days for climbing, starting with acclimatization and ice-glacier training before the summit attempt. After a successful ascent, we visit K2 Base Camp and Gilkey Memorial, enjoying the spectacular surroundings of the Baltoro Glacier and its famous peaks. This expedition is ideal for experienced trekkers who want to combine adventure, photography, and mountaineering in one of the most breathtaking regions on Earth.

Itinerary

Arrive at Islamabad International Airport and meet your Expedition Pakistan team. Transfer to hotel and meet your guide for a trip briefing and gear check. Overnight stay in Islamabad.

Option A: Early morning flight to Skardu (approx. 55 minutes), with possible views of Nanga Parbat. Free time to explore Skardu Bazaar. Trekking permits finalized, and group dinner with staff introductions. Option B: Overland drive to Skardu from Islamabad (20–22 hours) with overnight stop in Chilas if flights are not possible.

Free time for guests while the Expedition Pakistan team prepares food and supplies. Optional visit to Kharpocho Fort. Dinner as a group and rest before the trek.

Drive 5–6 hours by jeep through scenic valleys to Jhula, the starting point of the Baltoro Glacier trek. Overnight stay in campsite.

Start trekking after breakfast. Hike 3–4 hours along mountain trails towards Paju, enjoying views of glaciers and alpine pastures. Overnight camp at Paju.

After early breakfast, trek 8–9 hours along the Baltoro Glacier. Stop at Leligo for lunch and continue to Khubursay. Terrain is rocky and uneven, with waterfalls and sunrise viewpoints nearby. Overnight camp at Khubursay.

Easy 4–5 hour trek to Urdokas. Cross side glaciers and enjoy your first views of Broad Peak and Gasherbrum. Camp on a grassy slope with one of the world’s most spectacular mountain views.

Relax, acclimatize, and explore the surroundings. Optional short hikes, photography, and cultural experiences with porters. Overnight at Urdokas Camp.

Trek 5–8 hours over glacier terrain to Goro II. Enjoy views of Masherbrum, Gasherbrum IV, and Broad Peak. Overnight stay at camp.

Trek 5–7 hours to Concordia, the “Throne Room of the Gods.” First views of K2 (weather permitting) and surrounding giants including Gasherbrum IV, Mitre Peak, Broad Peak, and Marble Peak. Overnight camp at Concordia.

Trek to Pastoro Base Camp (~12 km from Concordia). Spend three days for climbing Pastoro Peak, including acclimatization and ice-glacier training. After the summit, visit K2 Base Camp and Gilkey Memorial, then return to Pastoro Base Camp. Overnight stays in tents.

Begin descent via Baltoro Glacier, passing Goro I. Overnight stay at Urdokas Camp.Or Cross the gondogoro La pass and return via hushe valley.Route (Alicamp -> GGL Pass -> Khuspang -> Saicho -> Hushe & Drive to Skardu)

Continue descending the Baltoro Glacier. Overnight camp at Khubursay.

Final glacier trek along Baltoro River, ending the day at Mongrongpi Dera campsite. Overnight stay in tents.

Short 1-hour trek to Jhula, then drive 7–8 hours back to Skardu. Enjoy lunch en route. Overnight stay at hotel in Skardu.

Day for reflection, rest, laundry, and enjoying Skardu city. Overnight stay at hotel.

Early morning flight to Islamabad (or drive via KKH if flights are delayed). Relax in the city or enjoy a farewell feast with the Expedition Pakistan team. Overnight stay at hotel.

If overland, complete drive to Islamabad (approx. 7 hours). Overnight stay at hotel.

Transfer to Islamabad International Airport for onward flights. Check-out at 11:00 am. Expedition Pakistan wishes you a safe journey home!.
